I was reading in the NY Times today that ‘September is the new January.’ According to the article people are treating the back to school season that comes in September as the opportunity to set new goals and get back on track with routines and positive habits. If that resonates with you, embrace it wholeheartedly and focus on goals you want to achieve. Larger goals can more easily be achieved with small steps. I like to call it a Fall Re-Set…Here are some ideas:

  1. Prep your pantry – if your goal is cooking at home more and healthy meals, clean out your pantry so you can see everything you have on hand. Stock up on family favorites.
  2. Plan your weekly menu – Nothing beats having a clear plan so you know what you are making/serving for dinner each night. Use the weekly menu as your guide to grocery shopping.
  3. Banish summer clutter – Go thru all the flip flops, half empty suntan lotions, towels, beach bags, swim googles and bathing suits. Clean what you are keeping and find a place to store and label them.
  4. Pull out your warm bedding – find where you packed it away and be sure it is clean and ready for use for the first crisp days.
  5. Transition your wardrobe – as the warm weather lingers you can leave some basic lighter pieces out, but begin to transition by bringing out fall pieces and items to use as layers.
