Father’s Day is coming so of course we are all thinking about what we can buy Dad. But perhaps this Father’s Day, instead of getting Dad more, why not help him to have less that he enjoys more…
Instead of buying him more sports equipment, help him sort thru and decide which favorite golf clubs, baseball gloves, or tennis racquets to keep, or which to use more regularly.
Instead of buying him more ties, help him sort thru his ties and keep only his favorites.
Instead of getting him more tools, why not help him organize his tool bench, which he may not have done for a very long time.
Instead of buying him more books, help him sort thru his current collection and donate some of the titles he is ready to part with.
Instead of buying him accessories for his car, why not help him clean out his car – glove compartment and all.
So, you can see where this is going. Sometimes the best gifts help us to refine what we already have so we enjoy those things even more. And, hopefully, the thing that Dad will enjoy most is the time he spends with his family – clearly more important than any material possessions.
Happy Father’s Day!
