It is always worthwhile to take some time to think about the gifts you will be giving before you go online or take a trip to the mall. Planning ahead can help you avoid overspending, as well as avoid experiencing the doubt that comes with purchasing items we are not quite sure the recipients like or need. This holiday, why not consider giving (and asking for) non clutter gifts that are associated with time, memory, and experience rather than purchasing more ‘things’ that our friends and family don’t need. For example:
Experience Gifts: memberships (to a museum, historical society or zoo,) tickets to an event or activity (a sporting event or concert,) a gift beauty treatment (facial, manicure, massage,) a round of golf, dance lessons, a personal training session, a community education course…
Gifts of Time: free night of babysitting, a professional chef meal, a car wash, a house cleaner, a professional organizer, a personal shopper, or any homemade gift of time – make someone a meal, rake their leaves, mow their lawn, wash their windows…
