Refresh and Renew

Jan 3, 2018 | General Organizing, Home, Seasonal, Spaces

January is a welcome month to many as it represents a clean slate and an opportunity to start fresh. What better way to start fresh than to declutter your crowded, overflowing spaces and make them lighter and easier to maintain. Here are a few suggested projects to help you refresh and renew your spaces and part with items you no longer want or use:

Bedroom – Clear out bedside tables and under bed storage areas.

Bathroom – Go thru all of those lotions, potions, creams, shampoos, conditioners, and old medicines.

Mudroom & Front Hall Closet – Be sure you have only your current, active items in this space.  For the moment, coats, hats, gloves, neck warmers, scarves, and boots.

Kitchen – Clear away unused small appliances and ‘extra’ utensils.  Cookbooks are also a great item to donate, as most recipes can be found online or thru your favorite apps.

Family Room – Clear out your holiday decorations, magazines and books that you aren’t reading, unused or broken toys, remote controls that don’t work on your current TV…

Pantry  We tend to stockpile food when it is cold outside, so try shopping your pantry before a trip to the grocery store.

Laundry Room – If you haven’t paired those single socks with a partner, it’s time to let go.  And, now is a good time to tidy up the detergent and fabric softener shelves and cabinets.
