We can all feel it – a few days of cooling temperatures let us know that summer is almost a memory.  With precious little time left for summer’s relaxed mode, it’s a good time to start thinking and planning for fall – back to school, back to work, and back to busy schedules for all.  To help you prepare for ramping back up, think about some of these organizing tips…

-Inventory school supplies you have at home and then plan your school supply shopping with your kids.  Remember to bring your list with you!

-Remember to sort thru all of the school papers and artwork that came home with your children at the end of the last school year.   Create a ‘school years’ binder or keep only the most treasured work for a memorabilia box.

-For adults and children, set some time aside to try on fall/winter clothes. Make of list of needed items. Now is also a good time to go thru your summer clothes and shoes and donate those items that you didn’t wear at all.

-For families with multiple children, establish a hand-me-down system.  Sort all clothing by size and store in clear plastic bins labelled by size and season.

-Now is the time to try on ballet shoes, cleats, and any other gear needed for sports and activities.  Add needed items to your shopping list.

-Be sure you have a dedicated area in your home to store active paper and manage your schedules.   Enter all important dates on your calendar (back to school nights, meetings, games, practices, tryouts, parties…)  Have the supplies on hand that will help you to manage things as the schedule gets busier.

-Enjoy the last, precious days of summer!
